Waipiʻo Valley Lookout: One of the Most Breathtaking Views on the Big Island

Waipi’o Valley Community Park

Waipiʻo Valley Lookout was one of the most breathtaking views we saw on the Big Island. This is one of those stops where you get out of the car, walk over, and immediately feel like pictures are not going to do it justice.

The parking area is not huge, though there is some street parking nearby, and then you walk down a steep concrete slant with handrails on both sides. Once you are in position, the view opens up and it is incredible.

You can see across the valley and spot a large waterfall in the distance, which only adds to how dramatic the whole setting feels.

This is one of those places where you do not need a lot of extras. No big activity. No long explanation. Just stand there and take it in.

Final Take

If you are anywhere near that side of the island, I would absolutely make the stop.

Pair this with Laupāhoehoe Point and Tex Drive In. For the full island roundup, visit our Big Island guide.
