A Honolulu Airport Layover Surprise: The Outdoor Garden Walk

April 16, 20261 min read

We had a layover at the Honolulu airport on our way to Hilo, and while it is not a huge airport, it did have one feature that stood out in a really good way: the outdoor garden area.

That part felt unique right away. Most airports feel like a blur of gates, food, and people trying to get somewhere else. This one had a little more character. Being able to walk through an outdoor garden during a layover made the airport feel more like part of the trip instead of just a travel inconvenience.

There is also a food court with a few recognizable options, though like most airports, the prices are nothing to get excited about.

This obviously is not a destination article, but it is the kind of little detail families appreciate knowing ahead of time.

If you are routing through Honolulu, the garden is the part worth checking out.
